About Me (In My Own Words)
I was first diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse in the fall of 2009. In May of 2014 my local cardiologist advised that my condition had deteriorated from 'moderate' MR to 'severe' MR and suggested I begin to consult with a surgeon. My diagnosis was confirmed at both the Cleveland Clinic (Dr. Marc Gillinov and staff) and at Duke Heart Center (Dr. Donald Glower and staff). I felt like I had a high chance of success for a Mitral Valve Repair with either surgeon and facility. All other things being relatively equal, I chose Dr. Glower and Duke because my brother Bruce and his family live in the area. They will provide great comfort and care during the time my wife Teresa and I spend there before, during and after surgery. All Good!
