About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed by birth that i had 2 Heart defects. 1. VSD 2. Aortic Stenosis. I was first operated for VSD in USA University of California in 1978 by Dr. Paul Ebert. Then it was mentioned that i will need to undergo a second surgery in my late twenties. I did my AVR in Singapore in 2001. Since then i'm undergoing frequent check ups and taking blood thinners. However i'm more inclined to sports so my day to day life since then have included a sports routine into my lifestyle. Since i have done my AVR i have played Badminton, Soccer not as a sport and other exercise activities. I have recently included HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) to my weekly workout schedule and i feel very good and comfortable before and after exercises. It has been a challenge to undergo two heart surgeries and live a normal life. However i have learnt a lot through the years and have understood to accustom my lifestyle according to my physical condition. When i have fun i really have fun and i enjoy time out with my friends and family. I'm 47 years now i feel i'm really fit and energetic. The heart surgeries have not deterred me to go about my day to day life and get the maximum out of it. I was told by my doctors not to exert too much, but i challenged myself within the limitation and i have managed to incorporate an exercise routine to my day to day life. What i learnt is every person is different to another and if you can gradually increase your intensity you could still accommodate physical activeness to your day to day life. It has been a learning experience and i suppose its a lifetime learning experience about my condition.
