About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with heart murmur in 2006 after experiencing palpating heart beats after strenuous cycling efforts. At the time I was told it was was mild regurgitation and nothing serious or to worry about but established a baseline of measurements from testing. 2010 had a similar feeling and went to a different cardiologist who performed similar testing that yielded similar heart measurements/values but informed me that I had moderate MVR and that this was serious and needed to be followed. It was at this time I was told I could be a candidate for OHS to repair the valve. I was told I could continue my active lifestyle and stuck my head in the sand until Nov 2013 when my GP inquired about my heart health. Echo revealed no changes in measurements/values but a move towards moderate to severe MVR. My doctor had my attention (I purchased Adam's book) and I went for a May 2014 follow up with basically same readings as far as I could tell as 6 months prior but he wanted to see me in 3 months. The last test had increases in the size of LV and LA at systolic/diastolic measurements and he referred me to Dr Adams for consultation but not before I had two additional opinions that were similar in diagnosis but completely different in treatment recommendations. Met with Dr Adams a couple of weeks ago who explained to me what stage I was in for intervention for a good repair outcome and he confidently answered all of my questions. I feel I am in good hands but would love your support!
