I had my procedure on Dec7th, I wanted to post more prior to going in but have been overwhelmed with life happening. Now I am surgery plus 11 days and feeling a little better everyday. There were some major complications with my surgery as when they attempted to connect the mechanical aortic valve my aorta began to fall apart to had to have part of my aorta stem replace so they could attach my mechanical valve, as well as repair my mitral valve. All in all turned into a 12 hour procedure with being intubated and kept under for 24 hours (ouch), I definitely felt that after waking up. The day I was sent home I began to swell and that. Oft had to go back to ER cause I swoll up like a grape, on diuretics now that have helped and working. Here I am surgery plus 11 days and feeling better and better everyday.
I did do quite a bit of reading other people’s stories off the site and that gave me strength knowing there are others out there like us.
Positive vibes to all,
AL
