Hello all! I'm having minimally invasive mitral valve replacement done on Monday 9/9/19. Any words of wisdom from those who have gone thru this? Very interested in hearing your experiences.

Susan Lynn I agree with Steve. The rest of the process is pretty easy and virtually painless. You'll deal with numbness and pins/ needles as your nerves regenerate, but otherwise will just feel tired. As with all heart surgery - walk, rest, repeat - as soon as you can. They're key in getting your strength and endurance back. All the best! ❤

Joy Vera Welcome, Barbara. I haven't had mitral replacement but did have aortic replacement & mitral repair in May along with some work to my aorta. What Susan says is right on target. I believe my recovery benefited from cardiac rehab & recommend that if you can do it. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!
