Rose Madura Hi Fred. Welcome to the site. I know that news like this can be shocking. I aas it moderate or severe. Many times they will monitor it for a while. I would call your doctor with questions and do your own research on the topic.

Marie Myers Fred- I know how shocking that type of news can be! I read your story, and it looks like you may be having TAVR for your treatment. If so, that is great news! TAVR can solve your aortic stenosis problems, and you may only be in the hospital for a night or two. The recovery is much quicker than with full open heart surgery. I have a friend who had TAVR at age 97. She will be celebrating her 101 st birthday in September. So “take heart”, and ask whatever questions that you may have. Let us know what your doctors say.

Paul Marcotte Hi Fred, I also had aortic stenosis. I had surgery last week. If you are looking to stay away from blood thinners, I recommend the Ross procedure; It has been revised & evidence shows to last longer & have less negative effects / reactions than TAVR. Nonetheless, I believe this was my choice due to the fact My condition reached a severe point at 23 years old, & I still plan to have an active lifestyle. I was a good candidate for this method, but everyone is different.
