In week 6 post op. After an aortic valve replacement and the repair of an aneurysm of the acending and aortic arch.
Happy to talk through with anyone facing this hurdle.
It's no big deal. The waiting is the worst.

Aubrey Skelly Hi John, I'm a year tomorrow having had Aortic Valve replacement and five bi-passes. What a year :). Did you have your op in the matter? It's hard to find people here who had a similar op, mainly stents. I met one person (by accident) who had a Heart Transplant he was a great help it was nice to meet someone who had a very good understanding of the aftermat. Oh I live in waterford.

Nancy James John I'm happy to hear that you are doing well after 6 weeks. I am at 7 weeks right now and I'm not doing that well. I know the surgery went well. But it's all the pain, burning in my chest and arms. I can't even reach for anything without pain - especially on my right arm. Plugging a table lamp cord in the other day caused excruciating pain. I'm getting depressed. I want to be able to wake up in the morning and feel like I can get things done and even though I'm just talking about light housework and maybe a short trip to get a few groceries - it's not worth the effort. When I talked to the cardiologist he won't give pain meds and says it takes time. I just feel all alone and wish I could talk to someone - or have a doctor who was more concerned about me than writing a prescription for a pain med to make a patient comfortable.
