I am trying to get onto this site which I joined a few months ago after my TAVR surgery. Now when I tried to write a message my email address wasn’t recognized. So I asked to be allowed in via Facebook and I guess I am being recognized now. I have other health issues along with heart valve problems and this has made my life post-TAVR somewhat more complicated than the norm. A question I have now is this: After having the aortic valve replaced should the BP reading be around the normal level, i.e. 120/80? My blood pressure vacillates from around normal but sometimes goes up higher than it ever was prior to TAVR. Today I had a doctor’s appointment and my BP was 167/76 and I was shocked. Wasn’t expecting anything like that! I was told that maybe the high reading was due to my high pain level from my back and shoulders which are a mess. Am I being unduly panicky? Thanks!

Marie Myers Try not to be too concerned over one or two high BP readings. Keep a record of your at home measurements, and take the record to your doc when you visit. The long term trends are more important. BP varies with many things, like pain level, stress level, activity, or anxiety. Even worrying about your BP can raise it. When you go to the doctors office, many people experience higher readings also. Hope that helps.
