I had to have some more tests and it wasn't until mid-December that I got put on the waiting list for surgery. Now I'm scheduled for Mon. Feb. 24/20 for a TAVR under the collarbone. Excited and scared. I have every confidence in the surgical team but naturally my brain sometimes goes into the what if life or death happens dark place.
Rose Madura It's so amazing what can be done. Best wishes for a great outcome and recovery.

Karen Warren I had a TAVR two years ago through my femoral artery. All I could say when it was over was, "I cannot believe it. That was the craziest thing." My surgeon said, "I know, right. Isn't it amazing." Prayers your way.

Was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis 2 years ago. Had a bunch of tests and one year ago was told performing valve replacement surgery (either open heart or TAVR) was too risky because of my high weight and none of the surgeons on Vancouver Island would do it. Quite a shock and disappointment. I was then referred to a surgeon in Vancouver and met with him today. He said he will do either a mini-sternotomy or a TAVR through the artery in my shoulder, depending on what the CT scan shows. I will hear soon about which option is best and either way it will about 2-3 months before surgery. I am so relieved and happy!
