Has anyone heard of Takayasu's arteritis? Is there anyone else out there with this autoimmune disease besides me? It is very rare here in the United States. I had open heart surgery six months ago because of it. I was curious to see if there were others affected by this like I was.

Edith Dim I never heard of that particular Arteritis. I was diagnosed with Temporal Arteritis after an artery biopsy in 1994. Since I have had Arteritis for the last nineteen years, it has been referred to as Giant Cell Arteritis...systemic. It left for one year, then came back, which is why I have been on prednisone for over nineteen years.
