I am flying from out of state and going in to the Cleveland Clinic to have a transcatheter procedure done to close a paravalvular leak. The hospital stay is mandatory if I don't have someone with me for observation the night of the procedure.
Under those circumstances, does anyone know if Medicare will pay for the hospital room for the evening of the surgery?
I am concerned about getting a large bill for a one night stay simply because I had nobody to come to Cleveland with me....
DeWayne Adamson I don't see anything on their website for the hotel. How will they repair the leak Transcatheter?

Marie Myers I know I have read that some people mentioned paravalvular leaks on here. Hopefully they will see your post and contact you. I am sorry that you have to have reoperation for your leak. Prayers for your full recovery I noticed you asked about radiation heart disease also. That is a condition of valve deterioration caused by radiation to the chest for treatment of diseases like lymphoma. Many times, people were treated as teens or young adults, and eventually went onto develop heart valve disease. That is a tough side effect!

I had a SAVR Full sternotomy surgery last January and unfortunately now have moderate Paravalvular Leakage which will require a re-operation this coming January (I am told it is best to wait one year).
I have read that with reoperations it is best to have a surgeon who has a lot of experience in the re-operative SAVR world. I would like to have this done at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and I am hoping that someone has a strong recommendation of such a surgeon at Cleveland Clinic?
Grace Mason Roselli is tops at CC in aortic repairs

I had SAVR surgery on January 24, 2023 to implant an ON-X metal Aortic Valve.., along with Left Atrial Appendage Clip and Cox Maze 3 procedure. Went through 12 weeks of PT (3 times per week) as well. Two weeks ago I had my first echocardiogram and was told that I have Paravalvular Leakage in my aortic valve. I have a TEE procedure next week to attain a tighter diagnosis. Does anyone have a similar experience or know how this can be treated ?
How dangerous it is?
Will they fix it transcathater or will they have to repeat Open Heart Surgery?
If so, what is the success rate and how long will the recovery be?
