So happy to find this group. My FB post on the 22nd to educate others! Today is Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day. Recognized every February 22 during American Heart Month, Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day is an annual day dedicated to raising awareness about heart valve disease — its risk factors, symptoms, detection, and treatment — to reduce the burden of the disease. After 16 years of watching and waiting, I received a new aortic valve in December. Today, I celebrate my new heart valve and the whole experience that has had a profound impact, and not just physically, on my life. I am thankful for the incredible team of medical professionals from the Cleveland Clinic, for those who gathered around me (in person and in spirit) to provide love, support, and prayers during this journey, and for all that is to come downstream because of the One who has always been upstream.
