Hello all.
My first post. Six weeks ago I went to see my family doctor with what I thought was influneza. She found I was AFib, did an ECG and called an ambulance.
My cardiologist who has been monitoring me for 15 years told me it was time for MVR (it had been coming for years) and I was kept in hospital for the usual prepratory tests - angiogram and trans osophagial echo etc
Five weeks ago after the TOE, for reasons still unknown, I went down hill very quickly. My wife was told I would be lucky to survive the weekend.
A balloon pump was installed to help my heart and I went to ICU. The pump, drugs and very skilled ICU physicians and nurses turned me around to the point where I was strong enough to survive surgery.
Now I am home (four weeks), recovering and reading your very inspiring posts.
