Sara Moyce HI again Alyssa - another comment: my left ventricle is also very much enlarged (referred to as "massive") which scares me to death. I too am hopeful that not only it stops growing but perhaps remodels itself and becomes a bit smaller. I am leaving it to God!!

Hi Alyssa. I'm Sharon. It has been 17 years since my Aortic Valve was replaced. It is scary to go into surgery-I remember the feeling clear as bell. But, a year from now you will be in a new place, 17 years from now you will be telling your story and helping someone else. My enlarged left ventricle went totally back to normal a year after the valve replacement. You're young and your heart wants to heal. Something like that could happen for you too!
Sharon, those are beautiful words of encouragement. Thanks for posting this.
Alyssa Arrowsmith Hearing your story is very encouraging Sharon! Thank you!

Good luck. Two items I found absolutely essential: a reclining chair and something to give yourself a good back massage.
The recliner because it is almost impossible to move around on a flat surface, at least at first. The back massage because your back stiffens up without regular mobility activity and (at least for me) that became incredibly uncomfortable for long periods. A very firm massage from my daughter eased it.
Two others are patience and determination to get out and exercise consistently.
Sharon Dawson Absolutely agree on the back massage-on a regular basis!
