Andy, my heart rate before surgery was 70's-80's, in the hospital before discharge it was in the 80's, but after discharge it went up to 105-110. They put me on metoprolol which helped lower it a bit (I could only tolerate a low dose of metoprolol because my BP was low), but then had to go off it (then back on, then off again) because of my BP dropping too much. About 6 months after my surgery (which was in Feb), I noticed my heart was finally down in the 80's (not on metoprolol). This is a very common thing after surgery from what I understand. Some people it takes a few months, some longer.

Hey Andy! One of the things i had happening after surgery was right side heart failure, and afib for a couple months. My heart was kept slowed down with meds, but i seem to recall it going about 130bpm, then down to 110 or so before my Cardioversion to get me back into rhythm. Now its at 60bpm or so. Over a year after surgery. Still not perfect, but i'm vertical!
Andy Nara Thanks Greg! Did you take any meds after surgery
Andy Nara Mohammed, I had bicuspid and tricuspid repair
Mohammed Abdulrahman Is there guarantee for repairing procedure? How old are you?

Greg Lewis I took Beta blockers, and dieuretics, and Potassium. I think those were the main ones for the heart failure issues. You should probably go see the Doc.

Greg Lewis Another piece of advice, is to keep a daily log of BP and heart rate. It can help the Doc with what the meds are doing. Also record how you are feeling etc. When you have an appointment coming up, write down all concerns as they come up, and take it to the appntmnt. Then you dont forget anything, and you can hit the important stuff first. Just my two cents! Have a great day!
