Beth, thinkling of you on the eve of your surgery. I had open heart mitral valve Surgery to repair my prolapsed valve that was regurgitating blood..I also had the Cox Maze procedure in my left atrium to rid me of atrial fibrillation. This was on Nov 13. I am doing well with recovery and have had little sternum pain. I do not know if you believe in the power of prayer..I had many people praying for me as well as the surgical team. HI Beth, I too had my anxious hours before and after my AVR. I found this just by chance, and it changed my conflict into resolve...hope it helps tomorrow and through out your recovery. The roller coaster recovery was, as I look back on it now, the best thing to remind me to read this again and again, forge ahead with resolve to what now is a miracle of medicine and a path to fun adventures with family and friends. Although your inner and outer worlds might seem very far apart now, this is just a temporary state of affairs. Rather than letting discouragement prevail, focus on your destination with a positive heart.

Michele Ripley Beth: I want to wish you well tomorrow. I had the same diagnosis as you have and had my surgery on August 28, 2019. My surgery went very well. I don’t remember anything from ICU and woke up in my hospital room with my husband by my bedside. I wish you the best for your surgery and recovery. I admire your trust in God and am glad you turned to him for comfort and support. Be strong.
