Bobbi Alford Hi Chris! Sorry for not replying sooner. haven't been on the site in a while. I'm doing really well! My surgery went well with only a couple of minor hiccups along the way (a drug intolerance that gave me some nasty GI symptoms and a honkin' bladder infection). Other than feeling weak and achy, I had no real complaints. After a couple of weeks of shuffling around the house, at Day 20, I started to feel dramatically better. I can't say I'm my old self again yet, but I am definitely getting there. I've been released by my surgeons and see my cardiologist this coming Monday. I begin Cardiac Rehab on Thursday.
How are you? I still cannot believe that you got on the plane and went home only a couple of days after surgery! You do what you have to do, but STILL! How amazing!
Is your memorial hospital the one off of highway 10 west of the city that massive one by itself? Or are you in hospital city as I call it down by Rice U?
Bobbi Alford The one off 10 is Memorial City. My hospital is the one by Rice - right up the street from you.

Bobbi Alford Hi Chris. Let me be the first to welcome you to hot, humid Houston. Coming from Hotlanta, you'll be used to that though, I think. Hope you packed your umbrella, it's going to be a wet couple of days.
I've not heard anything about Dr. Lamelas, but I do know St. Lukes by reputation: It's one of the finest hospitals in the country. You're in good hands.

Hi Bobbi,
First of all, I wish you the very best with your upcoming surgery. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Secondly, will you be having the less invasive surgery? I know Dr. Nguyen is one of the very few surgeons who perform this procedure. Did your cardiologist send you to him or did you find him, on your own? I was very impressed with his video.
I look forward to following your story. You are stronger than you think! Praying for you...

Bobbi Alford Thanks for your kind words and your prayers, Debbie. Yes, I'm have a minimally invasive surgery. I found Dr. Nguyen in a kind of round-about way. I went to the surgeon my cardiologist recommended but was not impressed by him. So, I asked a friend of mine who works in Administration in the Memorial Hermann Hospital System for a recommendation. She, in turn, asked an anesthesiologist friend of hers who said Dr. Nguyen would be his first choice. After meeting with him and his office staff, I knew he was the one for me. Dr. Nguyen's partner, Dr. Astrera,, will do a part of my surgery I'm having two procedures - a repair/replacement of the AV and a revision of my aneurism, so I'm not sure who is doing what. Guess I'll find out when I get there.
