Brody Sheffer That's funny because that was my surgeon! He was great. I had some complications after the surgery due to having a reaction to the heparin but otherwise my experience went well (all things considered). I had to monitor lifting things and whatnot afterwards but I progressed nicely over the ongoing weeks/months. I hope that you had a great surgery! Please let me know how you are recovering.

Jeanette Reardon Dr.Cleveland says I "will like him more in a month" when I'm not in as much pain/discomfort. He's been pretty supportive and even visited me twice during my hospital stay. Ironically I haven't noticed any changes regarding my heart or better blood flow, my brain and body seem to focus on the zip tied feeling of my right ribcage where the incisions were made. I admit I was not prepared for the pain and limitations that every system in my body seems to be noticing post surgery! This is going to be a much slower process than I anticipated.

Brody Sheffer I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling with pain! That can be pretty debilitating. Luckily I did not struggle with that as much as you appear to be. It is weird having that scar on your chest and waiting for that to heal. It will get better in time and you will slowly have to build yourself back up. I can tell you that it will get easier and you have to respect your body and heal at its own pace.

Brody....will be thinking of you as your big day comes. Stay positive and this will over before you know it. The surgery is actually over in the blink of an eye. Then your focus shifts to recovery and getting back to doing all the things you love. You will be pleasantly surprised how quickly this time will fly by. I am 10 years post AVR and could not be doing any better. Truly blessed. You got this!!!!
