Great to hear that your surgery went well and you are already at home. I had not seen any posts from you and had wondered what your status was since March 8th. I think my post to you and your reply to me went thru Wanda Mroz "guest book". Sorry about that Wanda! Still trying to get past the learning curve here. My "old" brain doesn't handle new things very well. Best of luck with rehab. You will continue to be in my prayers.

Larry Latimer Cheryl, hope things went well today. I have been looking for your posts since I noticed you live in Belton. I lived there twice during my military career while station at Ft. Hood. I have my first meeting with Dr. Ryan tomorrow, the day after your surgery. Same surgery I think. What type of valve did you finally decide on? You are leading the way for me so I will follow your progress closely. I am a 72 year old male. Not looking forward to the surgery, but ready to get it over with like you. I'm not filling out any of my information till after my meeting with Dr. Ryan. God speed and bless your recovery.

Cheryl Bass Larry,
The surgery went well, I had decided to go with the tissue valve, I went into surgery with the thought that it would be the bovine valve, but was told after surgery that they needed a bigger valve to be able to do valve in valve for my next surgery in 10-15 years so I came out with a pig valve instead. It was a little upsetting because I had done all my research on the Edwards Lifesciences Bovine valve and I really have no clue as to which pig valve they put in or if it matters. Guess I will wait till my next appointment to find out the info. I was discharged out of the hospital on Monday the 14th and am feeling OK. I am home resting now and will continue on with rehab the beginning of April. Thanks everyone for their prayers and prayers for those that have upcoming OHS soon.

Cheryl Bass I have had a slight setback, I have been having irregular heartbeats for the last couple of days and my heart rate goes down to around 44 during these episodes, I called my cardiologist and he ordered a heart monitor to be put on me. In the meantime I am going thru these episodes with a pounding irregular heartbeat that scares me, has anyone else experienced something like this. I also have an almost constant pain in my left rib area that gets worse with deep breaths, I have a call into my cardiologist now and am waiting to see what to do about that as well. If others have had either of these experiences I would love to get some input.

Cheryl Bass Well I ended up in the emergency room and had an overnight stay at the hospital, they did a lung CT to make sure my lungs were good and they were. I have irregular heartbeat, it isn't A-fib but they are watching it, I will see an electrophysiologist and that doctor will see me in about a month to see if it changes any. Hopefully my heart is just getting use to all the changes and the heartbeat will go back to normal in time. Has anyone else had this happen?
