Curtis Jones Thanks Bill, first time I felt like a human being. The surgery went well, aortic valve and root replacement as well as mitral valve replacement. 8 hours under anesthesia. Having some post op racing 105 to 120 with some pvcs Thrown in for luck

I just read your story. I actually turned 54 today and am 9 weeks post op . My surgeon said mechanical as well because they last a lot longer than the tissue which from what he said has about a 10 year life span ( and I hope to be around longer than that). The valve he uses is called the On-X Heart Valve. You may want to research them. When is your surgery? Good luck with everything

Michelle Maring My levels are still up and down not by much we are still fine tuning the warfarin but I don't blame you not wanting to do it again in 10 years. Seems the older the patient the longer the recovery. A family member of mine is 80 and had his valve replaced recently and it took him 3 months to get to where I was in 6 weeks so it is food for thought
