Cynthia, I’m also the proud owner of an aortic root aneurysm that is being monitored by the Cleveland Clinic. My advice to you would be never hesitate to get a second opinion if you feel uneasy and research research research.
I was diagnosed and discouraged with the cardiologist group I was seeing in Memphis, TN. Every six months my imagines results indicated aneurysm growth. The last measurement of 5.1 cm and the lack of a game plan from my cardiologist was the driving force to seek another opinion.
This led me to seek an appointment with the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio based on my reading and they’re ranking as published by US News and World Reports.
There they reviewed my past imaging as well performed their own with shocking yet great news. The aneurysm growth was measured at 4.9 along with every past imaging I provided. There has been no growth since the initial base line was established over two years ago. Now, I find myself in what they refer to as the watchful wait category.
Someone’s inaccurate measurement may have caused me worry and angst but it led me to a great cardiologist and a very skilled surgeon if ever needed.
You’ve probably noticed we’re kind of a rarity as there’s not a lot of aortic root aneurysm stories out there to review. So, take care and keep in touch.
