It's especially important that you have found a surgeon you respect and trust. About your hesitancy to receive the vaccine: please listen to the advice of your doctors and your surgeon. You are trusting them with your life. Trust them with their advice about the vaccine, too. You're putting them in charge of saving your life through heart surgery. They are people who have become experts after decades of study and experience in the medical field. Follow their advice regarding the vaccine.

Susan Lynn Dallas - There are tons of people who feel strongly about the vaccine. I would suggest that you choose a facility that has a separate heart hospital. I did and was grateful that I wasn't comingled with the "sick" patients - and my surgery was years before COVID. Heart valve patients aren't ill in the traditional sense, we're just temporarily broken. Once our respective valve issues are fixed, we're as good as new - maybe even better! Good luck!
