Debbie I had the same condition, and you are blessed to be having it taken care of. Being scared is normal, try to be calm and allow the entire medical staff to do what they do best, which is replace valves. I too was so unsure, but looking back, it was a walk in the park for them. You will be in great shape.

Hi Debby - I have a bicuspid aortic valve too and my surgery is this Thursday, June 8th and I'm scared too. If you weren't scared, you'd be a little crazy. But the medical field has made great advancements in all of this and we will be the beneficiaries. I've only been on this web site for a couple of weeks, but just by logging on you have a small army of us who are all reaching across cyber space to hold your hand as you go through this and yes, positive thoughts and plenty of prayers will be offered in your name. Head up, shoulders squared, stiff upper lip and all of that.

Debby, I think a lot of people on here feel the same, we will all be thinking of you on your op day, mine is a while yet, but the procedure has vastly improved from when I worked in a cardiac technician role in London in 1970 and to see patients recover so quickly, it does make me amazed how sturdy the human body is and how it recovers so fast. Best of luck Keith x
