Hi Deepak, my surgery was done at the university of Coventry and Warwick by Dr Uday Dandakar. The repair failed due to prolapse of the right coronary cusp causing severe regurgitation, so 10 months later I had a on-x valve fitted and have been doing well since , it’s been 2 years now . Hope you are doing well. Regards Paul .

Deepak Khanka Thanks for getting back to me, Paul. Met my surgeon we are following wait and watch my LV is dilated to 6.5 top end of normality with no symptoms . Did you have symptoms such as short of breath, swollen legs and feet, can’t lay flat on bed .
I have been given Ramipil 250 mg . Next echo will be in 2 months time . Did the surgeons say that as time passes it will be better for surgeons to see things better within. Your first surgery and the second surgery was done by Mr Uday ? What where risk define for the second time round? Was your recovery any different from the that of first one? Asked you quite a few questions. Thanks as usual
Regards
Deepak

Paul Randle Hi Deepak , both my surgeries were done by Mr Dandakar . He said that the risks for my second surgery were no greater than the first . He said Once he gets through the scar tissue from my first surgery it would be quite straight forward. Recovery was better to my first one because I knew what I was dealing with and I was more confident. I was back bricklaying after 10 weeks and I’m doing great now . All the best Paul xx

Hi Deepak, saw u asked John about OnX vale but it looks like he has St Jude, i have OnX valve, if u have anu questions i can answer them for u. I can hear it when i am lying down or sitting in certain positions. Expect tonbe on low INR 1.5-2 range in about 1 months, and hopefully within more research they will say not at all, somebody on my surgen team told me that in Aortic position iy is highly unlikely that u will get blood clot, so taking cumadin is more of a percotion before research is ready to admit that you might not need any.

Deepak Khanka Many thanks Alex. As you must have read earlier that I will have a re ops to replace aortic valve , which prolapsed 7 months (this jan) after David’s procedure. Are there any concerns around ONX valve not responding to the body . In my case the synthetic graft which was put while removing the aortic aneurysm? Have you heard any thing about mechanical valves failing etc ? May be I am overthinking but still A thought .

Alex Sigalov Sorry to hear that u need reoperation. I have not heard of any cases where OnX has been rejected by your body, there are rare instances when the valvle would need to be replaced due to failure or sometime it form a rare growth that forms on it, but those are rare and is supposed to outlast any other options and its really meant to last a lifetime. I think alot of people on this site who are less then 50 years old got and OnX value, seems to be more popular probably due to lower INR levels
