Hi Denise I live in New Zealand so not too far away. I know Melbourne very well my Mum was born there. I am nearly a year post op for bicuspid aortic valve replacement. Only symptoms I had were tiredness, cough, feeling unfit put it down to getting older!! I am now just turned 59 58 when I had op last July 23. I have a mechanical valve and take warfarin. I also take aspirin and bisoprolol. I teach part time in primary school and walk a lot. Life certainly does change when you find out you need OHS. The waiting is hard and then there was no going back once the ball started to roll you just had to keep thinking that life will get better and be thankful for the chance to be alive. I am happy to answer any questions no matter how personal or silly you think. I had never been in hospital in my life. Not even for my three babies so that was a shock in itself. This site has been my lifeline as so many people have had similar stuff happen. Take care and all the best. Suzanne Hunter Invercargill NZ

Denise Cockayne Thanks Mark, at the moment I feel a bit angry as I have had to cope with neuro endocrine cancer for 8 years, and cannot help thinking how much does one deal with, But, God loves me and blesses me daily as I have a new son in law, daughters wedding was wonderful, also other daughter is due to have a baby any day now. I have a wonderful husband and son. So hard to remember to count these blessings all the time though, I cannot help feeling scared as my last ICU was awful experience. Any hints suggestions help advice would be great.
Welcome. I was fortunate that I didn't have a wait so I can't help there but I am sure someone can.
