Hi Elizabeth, I just saw your post. My goodness. This must be scary, tough, and confusing for you, your son and your entire family. The good news is that you caught the BAV. That's key. The other piece of good news is that it seems like the stenosis / regurgitation is not severe right now. As you may know, BAV can progress over years or decades. Fyi, I was initially diagnosed at the age of 5 with a heart murmur from a BAV but didn't need surgery until I was 33. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
