Hi Frankie, Congrats on all your great progress! As for you Vitamin K concern, when they put you on continual Coumadin, they should have given you a booklet listing a wide variety of foods and their high, medium and low Vitamin K content. The booklet's actually put out by the manufacturer of Coumadin. It's a great way to plan what you're eating, and any foods you like which aren't listed you can almost certainly find their K content on the internet.
Also, you CAN eat foods rich in Vitamin K (for instance, I love leafy greens), as long as you eat them in a regular and consistent amount (e.g., twice a week/same portion, seven times a week/same portion, etc.). The med folks are trying to find a suitable steady dose of Coumadin for your regular dietary routine, not try to limit you in what you can eat (as long as what you eat is heart healthy, of course).
So if you eat a substantial amount of foods with Vitamin K, the med folks will just up your dose of Coumadin to balance it out. So ask for that booklet! Best, Artie
