I'm sorry to hear about your stuggles in recovery. Everyone is different, it's great you have support at home and sounds like you have a good outlook though I'm sure it's hard to stay positive. I've been fortunate with recovery; I am a little puzzled with one thing for me though; a higher heart rate than normal, like 20 points above normal. I'm on meds for it but still no reaction. I can feel this thing pump, especially in the quiet of the night! Take one day at a time; try not to overdo, take care of you. As a mom myself; I'm sure you're concerned about your family as well which takes away energy to focus on yourself. Both my kids are on their own in the area which helps. I'm thinking of you and wishing you the best! Take care.

Hi, Wondering how you're doing since we are sisters in heart valve surgery; remember, same day? 5 weeks out today, hope things are improving for you daily. I got cleared to drive last week; first trip was to the grocery by myself! My husband got worried about me since I was taking long, I wanted to look! Started rehab yesterday and will attend 3 x per week for 6 weeks; an hour each. I liked it, first time I sweated from exertion and not the Texas heat. My body feels better today. Take care.

Heidi Tragesser Hi Maureen! It sounds like you are doing really well. I have had some bumps in recovery. I was hospitalized 2 weeks ago for fever and increased shortness of breath. They suspected endocarditis which is an infection. However, all blood cultures came back ok. I was back in ER 2 days ago and diagnosed with inflammation of the heart , pericarditis. I had started to walk on my treadmill last week but now I have a fever and it hurts when I breath. I was told to take it easy. I am at least scheduled to start cardiac rehab on July 18th. I'm really looking forward to it! I did not expect this recovery to take so long.! I assumed since I was healthy and active before that I would bounce right back! How wrong I was! At least I have good support at home. My husband has been great. I have 2 teenage boys who will help if asked. I hope you continue to do well and I look forward to keeping in touch with you through this journey.

Hope you are having a smooth recovery! I'm still in a lot of pain and very weak. However, each day I'm having little milestones-like sleeping for longer periods and walking around my house for a little longer. I guess I didn't expect the recovery to be so difficult. Since I was so active before , I thought I would just bounce right back. How about you? Is it better or worse than you expected? Or about what you expected?

Heidi Tragesser Thanks so much Cathleen! I'm just saw this note. I am finally back home in Palm Desert. Recovery has been much harder than I expected. I assumed since I was so active before that I would just bounce right back! Silly me! Still very weak and in a lot of pain but small milestones each day! Thanks so much for your support!
