Jane Buttram Hi Richard. Thank you for your offer of help. I am a patient of Cardiology Consultants at Baptist Hospital. I have a bicuspid aortic valve, so aortic stenosis has crept up on me over the years. Dr. Videau feels like last echo indicates surgery is now imminent. Today I had a CT to look at the aorta which with bivalve often is compromised and the lung since I was a 40-year smoker. On Sept 6th I will have a cath to determine if there are any blockages (since I had a heart attack in Nov,2000). My husband & I then will have an interview with Dr Bailey who is one of the 3 heart surgeons associated with Cardiology Consultants 2 days later. I am very interested to learn your reasons for choosing Cleveland Clinic (of course I know how well renowned it is) rather than using a local surgeon. I really want to stay at home if the risks of having the surgery at Baptist Hospital, Pensacola don't convince me otherwise. Your thinking on not having your surgery in Pensacola will be helpful to me. Thank you for your response on this or any other concerns about staying home for this surgery.
