Julie M Thanks a million for your prayers and words of encouragement, Tom, Mike & Naomi! It's midnight and I'm not asleep, though I have to get up at 4 a.m. (Surgery at 7:30). I'm strangely more "wired" than nervous ... Just really want to get it done & be on the recovery path. Won't be long now! Trusting God to see me through; He has done so much to smoothly pave the way, providing for all my needs up to the surgery and for weeks beyond. I feel greatly blessed. And soon I will feel better than I have in quite a while... What a gift! God bless you all. I'll be sure to post about my progress!
Joey Hardee Hey Julie! Prayers for you. Hoping you are out and on the road to a speedy and wonderful recovery!

Julie - Wishing you all the best this week! You're going to do just great. I, too, was a medical minimalist and was just as scared about the hospital stay as I was about the surgery. But, it was a much more pleasant experience than I could have imagined and was over before I knew it. It might be our first rodeo, but it isn't for our cardiac teams. These professionals really know what they're doing! Trust them and concentrate on getting back to your wonderful life.
We'll be here awaiting your good news! ❤

Julie M Bless you, Susan! Your words of encouragement are so helpful. I must say, my experience at the hospital with the cardiac cath and the preop testing left me really impressed with the wonderful people who choose to spend their career life in places I prefer to completely avoid! They really help to put me at ease and I do tell them how thankful I am for what they do.
And I also know how fortunate we are to have conditions that can be fixed to make us better. Not long ago, I stumbled on a news story about small children in other countries who need heart surgeries their families can't afford and the medical teams who donate their time and skill to help them. Angels among us. Knowing how fortunate I am to be able to receive this help (and not knowing why or how I deserve it) also really helps minimize my fear.
Thank you so much for caring and taking the time for your note to me. I'm so glad you did so well. And I'll be sure to report the good news I hope & pray for, and do expect. God has provided for all my needs leading up to this surgery and for the recovery time afterward, in almost miraculous ways, and I'm trusting, in the words of Julian of Norwich long ago, "All will be well, and all will be well, and all manner of things will be well."

Diane Esposito Hey Julie, You are so right about how fortunate we are that we have conditions that can be fixed; that’s one of the first thoughts I had when I was diagnosed this past December. Thank God! I’m sure you and I are having similar thoughts and feelings as we are only a few days away from our surgeries. Susan Lynn is right about having an entire group of heart warriors rooting for us...I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers the next couple of days as you prepare for your big day. Soon we’ll both be on the recovery side!

Julie,
Sending thoughts and prayers to you. When I faced my surgery I wrote a prayer and will ask for the same outcome or better for you. I felt total peace before surgery as: "The Lord would not bring you to this point and abandon you, place your faith in Him" Your surgery will be a complete success.

Julie M Many thanks for your encouraging words and prayers, Peter, and infinite blessings to you! Long ago, I memorized Psalm 91, and it's a perfect prayer for this and so many situations. I do have strong faith, and believe as you do .. God is faithful and is with us always, no matter the situation or outcome. I trust in Him most of all, and know that He gifts these wonderful doctors with their amazing skills. It's all a miracle! Stay well, and as Adam says, "Keep on' Tickin'!"

Hi Julie,
I’m new here as well and it seems we have some things in common , I’m also 67 and I didn’t know my mitral valve was a problem until December 2018 either when I went into a-fib and heart failure. My surgery is set for 4/24th and I’m hoping that the valve can be repaired. My tricuspid valve was also moderately regurgitant but the most recent TEE show only mild leakage now . I won’t know if the surgeon will need to repair that also until after the surgery is done. I know we’re both fortunate that this was discovered now and that we can have surgery to correct it. Do you have a date yet?
