HI Kathy, everything is going to be ok. You are a strong person and you'll get through this, just trust the process. It was hard for me to wrap my head around being told I had a bicuspid valve a few months ago and that I needed OHS, but I found a little sliver of peace through reading poetry and then I knew everything would be fine and it was. My surgery was short and sweet, no complications and my recovery has been moving along at a good clip. Just visualize how great you'll feel on the other side of surgery - that's really all you can do. The people in this group are fabulous for support so lean on us and Good Luck!

Kathy, great photo! It is natural to be scared. No matter how long you've known that there is a health issue, it is still a shock when the doctor talks about serious surgery. Be strong, go through with this, and just remember--when you wake up, the risk will be over. And you will celebrate many more birthdays!
