Hi Kim! I read your story and I can relate. I was diagnosed 39 years ago with a heart murmur with 25% regurgitation when I was 18. It terrified me and after a few visits with a cardiologist I avoided doctors all together because I was terrified and asymptomatic and my heart murmur dominated. I wouldn't recommend that approach especially now with the technology that exists. I was running and hoping for technology to change which it has. What I have feared my entire life is now scheduled to take place on September 6th. I recommend surrounding yourself with the BEST cardiologist, hospital and surgeon you can find. It will make you feel less scared to have a great team behind you. Also, research and learn about your condition and learn as much as you can. Most importantly buy Adam's book and be active on this site. You will learn so much and this community will be tremendous support. No better support than to be with people who have a similar condition and have been there and done that. It will give you confidence and you will not feel so scared and alone. It has with me.
