Hi Lisa!
I read your Journal, and thank you for reading mine. It took me a lot to get past myself (hey-I'm a big guy! lol) and do that first entry. Thank you for making me feel welcome!
My AVS hit me out of left field and was found quite by accident. I was admitted to hospital for one thing, and after a hospitalist noticed some things, he asked me some questions about my symptoms. He put a face to my fear, and I wound up in cath lab for a study of my heart one day after his visit. My aortic valve is only opening 0.7mm, so that is a problem. Given my age-58- I will wind up having open heart/metal valve/MAZE done. It shook me up hard but the more I watched videos and read about AVS it was a bit better. The thought of open heart surgery still scares me but I think I'll be OK. I'm an old green-eyed hillbilly and pretty durable.
I am sorry to hear about the MV problems you have been having. You are in my prayers and thoughts. Like a line out of a song goes: "It's a long long road, with many a winding turn", but we will make it to where we are going. I'll be somewhere around and I'm for you too!
All my best,
Mark Hall, LPN

Lisa Ferguson Hi Mark - thanks for the kind note! Isn't it crazy that only by chance you ended up being diagnosed with something you probably never imagined would happen to you. I do believe in fate and really appreciate the extra special care you get every once in a while at the docs office. I am sure you've read lots of stories by now, but my biggest piece of advice is to find a surgeon you have confidence in. That makes the biggest difference when you are wheeled into surgery. Thank you for your good wishes and I have you in my prayers as well!
Mark Hall Thank you Lisa. There is a surgeon I hope will take up my case. And pray.

I'm sorry to hear about your recent MV struggles but glad to hear that you have found a cardiologist who will better help you through them. Thank you for sharing the details of your story! My husband also had (minimally invasive) MV repair surgery in 2015 and has recurring severe MV regurgitation. I will say a prayer for your healing. Maria
