Hi Lori, I also want to tell you that as my surgery date drew closer , I came to acceptance. I realized that having the surgery was better than living in heart failure. Today, three months out, I feel better than I have in years.

Lori-The response from our community hopefully will let you know that you are no different from any other person facing heart surgery in having feelings that you mentioned. I have read some of your responses already and they are all heart felt and genuine. You will not find more understanding and supportive people regarding any and all things relating to what you are experiencing and I hope it helps as more and more of us respond to you and let you know that it is something that is worth the risks involved and something that you CAN make it through. You have that you will be having it done soon which is better than a long wait. I had my Aortic Valve replaced last year at the age of 65 and can guarantee felt like you do now and like most of the community did as well. I found that it wasn't as bad as I let myself imagine it would be. Your team will give you confidence and the Nurses(like yourself I am sure) will give you the most attention and support than you yourself as a nurse have given all of your patients only this time it is all about you and you are THE FOCUS! You can do this!
