Bonnie Stone-Hope Hello Melissa,
I was given a pill to relax me prior to surgery.
As a result, I remember nothing after that, until the day after surgery. So, breathing tube was a non-issue for me.

Bill H I remember the breathing tube coming out. In the grand scheme of things, it was a tiny blip on the radar. It was a bit uncomfortable coming out, but no big deal and once it’s out it’s out. Don’t worry!

Marie Myers I briefly remember having the tube in, but next thing I knew, it was gone. I also had asked for Versed (midazolam) in preop, and the lovely nurse anesthetist gave me some. I don't remember a thing until 6 hrs later... It was great! Have no memory of going to the OR, seeing anything... It is all truly a miracle what can be done...

Noreen Kitchen I remember having the tube in it wasn’t painful or too uncomfortable more awkward than anything. I told myself that I was alright the tube was ok then went back to sleep the next time I woke they were taking it out and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I had imagined. I think the anticipation of what is to come is worse than anything. It’s hard not to worry and stress I know I certainly did but now 10 months post I can honestly say it wasn’t near as bad as in my imagination. Best of luck you’ll do great!!
Melissa A Thanks everyone! All your story’s make me feel a lot better about this

Bob Gillespie I too was concerned about waking up with 'THE TUBE'!! Even asked the anesthetist and they assured me I would not wake up with it still in......I did. I just banged on the rail of my bed and a nurse came in, next thing I know I am waking up without it. No big deal at all. You will be fine.
