My mitral valve replacement was in Dec of 2012. I am in the Orlando area and Dr Kevin Accola is my surgeon. He did my mitral valve replacement 10 years ago with a bovine valve and will do the valve-in-valve procedure tomorrow through the groin using the Edwards Sapien valve. Tomorrow I will know exactly which one because there are 2 that he uses. My aortic valve will also be replaced through the groin at some point. I still have my own aortic valve but it is slowly giving way. I am turning 75 this year and I guess the team felt this was the best way to proceed. So, Lord willing, I will be able to give you more info in the days ahead. This procedure is becoming more common but there isn't as much data available. I was given 10 great years and any more I receive will be an added blessing. There are so many great surgeons and hospitals and you will find one that will handle your husband's special case.
