Mike, I saw your comment on a post of mine. I've used the phrase "gut punch" a million times in the past few months. I'm 42, had no symptoms (found the aneurism and causal bicuspid valve a month before surgery in a stroke of luck), and would say I was in the best shape of my life in terms of activity and nutrition before this. It was hard to accept a first, but here I am. It's amazing how many people have been through this, and how much it can help to talk to them on here or elsewhere. I found Jeff on here a few weeks before my surgery, and his video record of his whole process (which matched my upcoming surgery) was a great resource for me. Of course everyones experience is different, but watching his videos (up through 4 weeks post surgery) helped a lot and I have encountered many of the same things along the way. Here are his videos:
