Hi Patty. This is Tracy, you had asked about by less invasive mitral valve repair procedure. I apologize, if this is a duplicate. I tried to respond using my tablet and it froze twice. I am so thankful that I was a candidate for the less invasive procedure. My doctor said it could be more painful because they are cutting through muscle and nerve, but I honestly have had very little pain. They did a pain block in the operating room, which probably helped for the first day or two, but since then, I rated my pain between a 1-3, on the scale where 10 is the worst. I recommend zip up tops or button up tops, because for the first several days, I didn't want to lift my arms any higher than needed, and loose camis or loose sports bras with no underwire. My incision is about 3 inches long and tucked almost underneath my right breast. I wish the very best to you and I think you'll be so thankful too that you're a candidate for the less invasive procedure. My surgery was Monday morning and I was released from the hospital on Thursday (before noon). Best of luck to you and I'll keep you in my prayers. Please let me know if you have any questions.
