Thank you so much for sharing your story. It is quite similar to mine. I am seeing a surgeon today and I am quite anxious. If I could actually fit under my bed I would probably hide there. Unfortunately, I think my husband would find me and drag me out. I also keep thinking about them stopping my heart and then restarting it. It’s a very strange and scary procedure to go through.Your comforting words in your journal reminded me that the greatest healer of all is with me. Thank you.

Dear Peggy, I read your 2nd Anniversary post, and cried when I looked up Phil. 4:6-7, and the passage in John 14. My journey is beginning, and I never knew I had any problems with my heart until I was admitted this July to hospital for something entirely unrelated. A young South African hospitalist noticed something about me and returned the next day to visit with me. His questions lifted a veil from my eyes and I was able to see what I was calling mere "old age coming upon me" was truly not. Within a day cardiologists came to visit me, and I was sent for a cath lab study of both sides of my heart. The news returned to me hit me hard, and I didn't take it very well. For the first time in my 58 years I genuinely felt scared senseless. As I have found information on AVS and its treatment, and have followed up with my doctors I am somewhat better dealing with it now. Everything is still "hurry up and wait" but because I am a "young" person of 58 the concern with the TAVR placed bioprosthetic (moo) valve is its longevity. I have been told in the case of problems a "valve within a valve" can be done, but I'm not sure I'd want to go through heart surgery again. If at all possible I would lean toward the open heart/mechanical valve. I have been on blood thinners since 2007, so I am OK with a more precautionary lifestyle required by that. Mechanical valves seem to be longer lived, so I'd rather go that route. Thank you for sharing the scriptures with me. I pray that you live to bless many others with your sharing and support.
