i am scared of the operation to replace my valve and a double bypass they say it should be done with in the next year my breathing is getting worse every day i have no friends or relitives who care my brother is in nursing home can someone tell me if it is really better after the surgery thanks steve i should start at the beginning i think it was january 2014 i was told i have a heart murmer and aortic stenosis so my cardiologist had a catheration done and said i needed my aortic valve replaced and i have also two blockages so i need a double bypass as well i was told this in may and now i am wondering when i should have it done because i am scared of open heart surgery i know they say it is done on a regular basis every day but i am still scared because it is your heart which pumps blood to every part of your body i have had both kidneys operated on in 70 and 72 but the heart scares me more i really like this site it helps alot to read the stories of others who have had the surgery thanks again steve USN retired and USPS retired my Hospital was Peninsula Regional Medical Center GUERRIERI HEART & VASCULAR INSTITUTE and my Doctor was Dr Ogburn wow what a operation it was not as bad as i thought it would be because after the surgery i said to the nurse when are they going to start and she said it is all done there was pain but they did a very good job of controling it and the recovery was very good also i spent two weeks in rehab hospital and 5 weeks with a visiting nurse and therapist at home then 36 sessions of cardio rehab at hospital and now i am in cardio rehab phase 3 for as long as i want thank you god for seeing me thru this journey amen
