So happy you are doing so well! Just wanted to let you know I had an AVR done in 2009 and I, too, decided on the On-X valve and I have done remarkably well. It took some time to get use to taking Coumadin and learning what veggies to eat and not eat, but it eventually worked out well. I pray all continues to go in the right direction.

Rob, Congratulations on your pick of surgeons. I too was from Ft. Wayne growing up. Dr. Gerdisch did my redo of aortic valve with rigid fixation after full sternomy and I did a 5k 30 days later. He and his staff are the greatest. It took 3 months to get to that point on the first full sternomy with wire sternum reconnection. Three and one half years later still doing 7mi. on treadmill 4 days a week. At 72 there was still hope for this old fart thanks to Dr. Gertisch and staff and the great people at Franciscan Hospital. Speedy recovery :)
