Roger Birch I still haven't and won't until we meet with surgeon tomorrow. Leaning pretty hard to tissue and hope medical improvements make it easier when the time comes again. What is your age? Good luck, certainly not a easy question to answer.

James Newell I am 40 and not too keen on Warfarin or the ticking that seems to be present on the mechanical valves. I am also hopeful that by the time I would potentially need another surgery the less invasive techniques would be established.

Clay Rowe If it counts for anything...I'm a year post op and I went bovine after the same TAVR talk from my surgeon who said that would be his choice. He says I have room for 2 more. We're about the same age and activity level. I was unusually resistant to warfarin post-op so it might have been a good choice. If you go mechanical...check out the On-X valve which has a low INR requirement. I wouldn't have cried if I'd awaken with either one...it was that close of a decision...and an extremely difficult one. Ultimately I felt guided by faith (very uncommon for me) to go tissue. Good luck guys.

Bob M Type of valve is a personal decision; however, I only had one choice since I cannot tolerate Coumadin (feel free to read my story). My valve is a bovine type called a trifecta from St. Jude Medical, vintage December 10, 2014. I love it. And I am betting that when it fails, I will use the TAVR procedure through my leg, not through my chest.
Hi Roger, I wish you the best of luck with your surgery! Our thoughts & prayers will be with you. Take care. Liz

Roger Birch Thank you, I have the greatest wife in the world. But I do wonder about the closeness we are about to share. I hope I can be as patient as I should be. And a "good patient"!
