Hi Scott,
Great to see another Aussie on here yet again 👍😁 I see you've also got Mitral Regurgitation like me, do you know what stage yours is at? I haven't heard of your Surgeon before, which Hospital did you have Heart Surgeries in? I had both of mine in Sydney where you live. My first being Westmead Public Hospital then second at St Vincent's Private Hospital (much better I've gotta admit). I'm hoping everything works out for you to be in good health.
Take Care,
Emily 🙂

Scott Ainsworth Hi Emily! You’ve had a run over the years haven’t you! Your a true inspiration after viewing your profile! My situation was was a wrong diagnosis that then led to mitral valve regurgitation from Infective Endocarditis. It became so severe I had heart failure from the regurgitation and lung failure that put me under a code blue and moved to ICU before surgery. I had my mitral valve replaced and a double bypass at Westmead Public by Dr Himanshu Desai who also is at Westmead Private, Norwest Private and the Sanitarian Private, also Blacktown Public. Highly recommended and well known. My cardiologist is Dr Michael Skinner at Westmead Private and my Electrophysiologist Cardiologist is Dr Kumar also with Westmead Public & Private who did my Cardiacversion and recent Cardiac Ablation which we’re done at Westmead Private. Are you Sydney based? Wishing you always the best health possible and if there is anything I can do please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Hi scott. Looks like you have really had a hard road simillar to mine. I also ended up with afib after valve surgery and heart failure. I had a flutter ablation in november and will have a. Afib ablation in october this year. I have come a long way since my ohs in june last year and work full time as a self employed house painter and do 8miles of walking most days. The heart failure at first terrified me but it seems to have corrected itself. I get occasional afib and am off blood thinners and beta blockers which im delighted about. Hope you continue youre recovery and with the sfib under control return to a nesr normal life

Scott Ainsworth Hi Darren, thank you so much for sharing your Afib story, truly inspiring to me and hopeful of returning to work soon from home as like you I work for myself. My walking I’ve missed these 8 months and can’t wait to pound the pavement as they say. I should be on Warfrin for a few more months as I elected for a tissue valve to not have that hassle of INR tests and be the dad I want to be for our 19 month old daughter. I’ve been on beta blockers since my first heart attack 3.5 years ago but hope to one day be free of many of the multitude of pills I have to take day and night now. Again really appreciate the share and support mate.

Darren Ketchley No worries cobber. I was in great physical condition all my life until mitral prolapse stuffed me. Never smoked. And always worked out. I wont accept afib and have battled it as if its a personal enemy. I fight it any way i can. A good mediteranian style diet. Plenty of sleep. Exercise. And olive oil every day. Multi vitamins. And magnesium seem to have lessened the attacks. I dread that fluttery jumpy sensation that signals a possible attack. I monitor my heart rate with a light sensor phone app to keep an eye on yhe ryyhm and rate....i posted about a study that taking place in newzealand with science and medical studies re a possible drug free cure for afib. Thats exciting for us sufferers. Keep in touch. Cheers. Darren.
