Shaun I am so glad to hear how well you’re feeling! I hope you continue to feel better ever day. I am feeling a lot of anxiety and it seems quite a bit worse today. Hearing that you had a positive experience is very reassuring though. I’m wishing you the best in the upcoming days! Thank you for your message and I may reach out with a question or 2 for sure

Hi Shaun, I can’t thank you enough for replying to my post. I am really looking forward to having this behind me and also a bit anxious. I think there might have been issues with the site yesterday and seeing your message tonight was perfect timing. There are a lot of posts that say the wait time leading up to the surgery is the hardest part, and I hope I find that to be true. Too much time for “what if” thinking. I am happy to see that your discharge was 5 days after your surgery. Do I have that right? I would be happy with that, if that is the case. However, my valve replacements are due to damage from radiation therapy that I had in 1984 for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I was only 22 and remember being afraid of the unknown that was ahead of me. Here I am 40 years later and in the same position. I had several people tell me that radiation patients have a slower recovery but I’m determined defy that theory. I am also happy to hear about your positive experience at Mount Sinai. I was very impressed with my consult and appreciate the time Dr. El-Eshmawi and Dr. Adams spent with me during my visit. It is nice to hear positive comments on the recovery side as well. Did your family stay in NYC during your stay, and if so, were you able to find anything that was “reasonably” priced? Thank you for the heads up on the window request and let me know if you think of any other recommendations. Getting in and out of NYC is on my list. I would like to take you up on your offer of a phone call if it isn’t asking for too much. I’m not sure where I’m going to be on the stress monitor as my time gets closer. Thank you again for responding to my post and helping me navigate the unknown I have in front of me. Best, Lori

Hi Shaun, I arrive at Mount Sinai on September 9th and my surgery date is September 12th with Dr Adam’s and Dr. Eshmawi. They will be replacing my aortic and mitral valves and inserting a ring in the tricuspid. Happy to hear your recovery went well. May I ask how many days you were in the hospital after your surgery? I know everyone’s recovery is different but curious. Any recommendations you have about what might help during my time at Mount Sinai?
