Hi Sonny, Just wanted to wish you the best of luck on your surgery! You are in the best of hands at the CC! Dr. Johnston just did my father's valve replacement and aortic replacement last month and did a beautiful job! As I told Ray who is traveling to Cleveland and having his surgery this week, a really great place for your family to wait while you are in surgery is in the Miller Pavilion on the top floor of the hospital. It is quiet, has large leather chairs and has a grea view of the city. It helps take there minds off of the surgery and allows them to rest up as well. Again, best of luck and many blessing to you! Sonny Abbasi Yes it is congenital, classic bicuspid aortic valve. It will need to get replaced. Repair is much less likely. My symptoms have been off and on. Shortness of breath upon exertion. Last two days I have been having some light headedness with low blood pressure. Chest pain once. Starting to pick up. My wife is driving me to Cleveland on Monday. Catherization on Wednesday. Surgery on Friday the 17th.

Mary K I had my surgery, AVR, June 19 at the Cleveland Clinic with Dr. Svensson. SO grateful that I was able to go there. Number one, the staff is intelligent and present to the patient.. The surgery was "textbook" according to Dr. Svensson, and the nurses and staff on the cardiac floor are beyond compare.

Sonny Abbasi Thanks Mary K. I wonder how they assign surgeons there? I have Dr. Johnston. He seems very nice. Adam Pick set up a call for me with him and I felt very comfortable with him. He put at me ease. I am going up from the DC/Northern VA area tomorrow for pre-op beginning Tuesday.
