Any infection can become septic...I don't know where I got the infection. I suspected I had a kidney infection as I had one before. I had a bio (tissue) valve. I also had to have repairs to the heart as the infection did alot of damage. All infected tissue has to be removed.

Hi Stephen!! Hows it goin? Wow! That is quite a story! Yours is probably the most similar to my own that I have heard so far, I didn't have sepsis but, I really can relate to what you felt in your first days of waking up. I learned to love my walker! It meant getting around!
It sounds like you are doing much better now. But I just wanted to tell you that, as you know some recoveries take a long time. I don't know if you still have set backs, or not, but I still do. I am trying to view them as steps forward to full recovery.
Your photos are great! I am out in Alberta, and If you ever need someone to yak with let me know.

STEPHEN MORRIS Hi Greg, thanks for sharing your experience. I am very fortunate I haven't had set backs. I am monitored yearly and try to stay active. I think one thing that concerns me and probably others with a prosthetic valve is, how long will ot last? The other concern is infection and sepsis, considering I don't know how i got the infection that went septic.

STEPHEN MORRIS Marie, absolutely my medical team deserves all the kudos. I initially had a surgeon who was going to do the valve replacement, but things were more complicated and another one took on my case...I have no doubt I am alive today because of this surgeon. He had to figure out how to repair the damage the infection did to the heart. I think even he is amazed at my outcome, considering they were just trying to save my life.
