I apologize for the lengthy delay. I have not been on the site in a while. I am still taking a blood thinner, Eliquis, nearly 1 year after my OHS. My cardiologist said at the 1 year mark, he may reduce and then discontinue the Eliquis, but I’ve been doing so well, with no medications, other than Eliquis, that he didn’t want to make any changes. I’ve been off the Eliquis for days at a time due to skin cancer surgeries, and a breast reduction surgery, with no issues. At my one year mark, my cardiologist will discuss further changes. I have no side effects from the Eliquis and am doing great nearly 1 year after a 7 hour OHS that included a difficult mitral valve repair, Maze procedure, closing of the atrial appendage, and removal of a large cyst from the pericardial sack. I hope you are doing well and am happy to answer any other questions you may have.
