Tanya Ammons Thank you, Karen. Leading up to when I had my valvuloplasty my symptoms were beginning to progress. I started having shortness of breath, chest pain, etc. I was in my early 20s and hadn't had children yet so they did the valvuloplasty as a temporary fix to prolong AVR and the use of Coumadin to allow me to have children. The valvuloplasty lasted for almost 11 years and I was able to have 2 beautiful children! So yes, it did work for me, and it was not painful. No different than a heart cath if you're familiar with how those work. I was in the hospital for 1 night, they gave me medication so I wouldn't remember anything, and went in through my femoral artery. I had to lie flat for 8 hours after the procedure, and that was it. Feel free to ask any additional questions. Blessings to you.

Tanya, I read your recent post and saw you mentioned you were from Wimberly.... love your area of Texas--just beautiful! I'm in Dallas and had mitral valve repair in December. I know you seem to have alot of symptoms, and they all sound to me very standard for heart issues. I was mostly asymptomatic prior to my surgery, although I had known it was upcoming for 20 years. Do you have a good cardiologist near you that you are comfortable with? Is he in Wimberly, or having to drive to Austin or Houston area? If you have other questions happy to chat via regular email. I'm at pcbatzing@att.net. Praying for you and upcoming decisions!
