Thalia Cecil The surgery was great, I am not completely sure yet as to why the valve did not hold up as long as suspected. They were wanting to do the Ross procedure but the surgeon thought the valve looked a but better than the echo showed so the repair was worth a try!

Hi Thalia, Thanks for your note... Also, my husband reminded me that we stayed at a hotel extremely close to the hospital, and this helped a lot, since we stayed a little longer after discharge to make sure that everything was ok before going home. This was REALLY helpful, since I could go back and forth from ICU / hospital room to hotel to rest or get needed items. Will pray for a perfect surgery for you and quick and full recovery with no complications. : ) Maria

Hi Thalia, some items from my husband's heart surgery: an advocate to stay with you in ICU and step-down; note pad or paper and pen; button down shirts, loose shorts / warm-up pants (he had an incision in groin area); Sunglasses to help prevent migraines when lights go on suddenly,your favorite fragrance for masking hospital smells in ICU. You will be very thirsty in ICU. Try not to drink right away, go slow to help prevent nausea. My husband started with water on sponge-stick to wet mouth, graduated to ice chips, then to a popsicle, etc. Wishing you the very best for a successful surgery and quick and full recovery! Maria
