Hi Veronica, I just read your story and mine is very similar. I can understand the shock of hearing you have a murmur. I was told that I should have 10 years when I was first diagnosed but had my first aortic valve replacement in 5 years. Being in fairly .good health I recovered pretty quickly. I had a check up last December and found out I had early degeneration of the valve. That floored me. My symptoms came on really fast but I know that I also explained away my shortness of breath to other things. I wish you the very best. Please pay attention to your body. Maybe you will have many years before surgery if not with all the wonderful people here you will handle whatever happen.

veronica gunthner Thank you for that! Sometimes I think I am going crazy because I don't look sick and others have a hard time understanding the fear and uncertainty that comes with this diagnosis. I have learned that I have to be my own advocate, and I do not take the doctor's opinions as gospel. I wish you the best in your recovery.
